Ring, Nouveaux Regards - Avant-Scène Opéra n°315
DescriptionWagner's Ring 2.0 Entitled The Ring of the Nibelung (Der Ring des Nibelungen), Richard Wagner's Lyric Tetralogy consists of four operas: a "Prologue" (The Gold of the Rhine) and three "Days" (The Walkyrie, Siegfried and Twilight of the Gods). After having devoted four issues to its different parts (ASO nos. 227 to 230, available separately or in a box set), L'Avant-Scène Opéra now reserves a fifth volume for the Ring taken as a whole, in order to explore this immense continent in the light of the most recent reflections.
Does the bicentenary of Wagner (2013) and, even more so, the current movement to question artists and creators with regard to their biography change our view of Wagner today? Is the disproportionate temporality of this gigantic score still adapted to the era of zapping? Faithful to the main principles of the collection, this volume is enriched with an abundant iconography and also takes stock of the last fifteen years of interpretation of the work: comparative discography and videography, chronology of the major distributions, analysis and portfolio of key productions.
