Description

Published on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the Opéra national de Paris, this work spans two and a half centuries of aesthetics, creation and costume design in this theater. He takes as examples pieces from the collection of the Paris National Opera deposited at the CNCS or costumes from contemporary productions still in the repertoire. The first part (1875-1980), more historic, begins with the opening of the Palais Garnier and stops at the end of Rolf Liebermann's mandate.
The second (1980-2019) goes from the beginnings of the Opera Bastille to the present day. She takes stock of the history of the Ateliers today, in Garnier as in Bastille, sewing, clothing, wigs, make-up, heritage ... and their exceptional know-how. The work is widely illustrated with photographs of the costumes presented, documents, models, stage photos and photos of reports made in the Workshops.
