This book-DVD edition invites us to go back in time to the 19th century and to plunge into the world of the famous "Little Dancer" by Edgar Degas. In this magnificent work by Degas, beauty, art and cruel reality are inseparable, for the "Little Dancer" was a fourteen-year-old girl from a poor background who was forced to pose as a model to earn a living. "La Petite Danseuse de Degas" is a moving ballet, conceived by choreographer Patrice Bart based on the research of Martine Kahane and produced on the initiative of Dance Director Brigitte Lefèvre. On this occasion, the Opéra national de Paris has also plunged into the past in search of its own identity.
