Description
Inspired by Marius Petipa's choreography, Rudolf Nureyev's Don Quixote is a veritable feast of dance that showcases soloists and the Corps de Ballet in a wide variety of ensembles and pas de deux. At the heart of the ballet, the lovers Kitri and Basilio use every trick in the book - from a puppet show to a fake suicide - to find each other, despite the resistance of Kitri's father. It is finally the Knight of La Mancha who brings the happy ending, after battling the windmills and meeting Cupid, Dulcinea and the Queen of the Dryads. The shimmering costumes, with their Spanish accents, help to create a lively and enjoyable work.
