Description

Here is the full text, unredacted, from the diary of the greatest dancer of his time. Written during the winter of 1918-1919, when Vaslav Nijinski resided in Switzerland with his wife Romola and their daughter Kyra, these notebooks present themselves as the overwhelming testimony of a life of creation made of glory and suffering. Then twenty-nine years old, on the verge of sinking into madness, the artist evokes his pain of living and recounts his human and spiritual quest through his art and in his daily life. Repetitive, obsessive, violent, his prose, sometimes incoherent, agrees with the wish of its author: to give more to feel than to understand.
