Description
To dance is to actively participate in the vibration of the universe - Sasha WaltzWhen German choreographer Sasha Waltz takes Berlioz's symphonic poem and translates it into a poignant version of the famous legend of the lovers of Verona. The sobriety of the costumes and sets, in black and white, accentuates the dramatic intensity of the work and leaves room for the emotions of the young heroes. From the ball scene, offbeat and tinged with humor, to the carnal and poetic pas de deux of Romeo and Juliet, from the secret wedding to the heartbreaking burial, the choreographer illustrates the depth of feelings and offers images of great beauty. On stage, dancers, singers and choirs are united for a dance opera with a timeless and universal subject.
