Description

The The Twilight of the Gods Programme - October 2026 at the Opéra Bastille accompanies the final instalment of The Ring of the Nibelung, Richard Wagner's monumental opera cycle.

As Siegfried leaves Brünnhilde to set out and conquer the world, his fate is upended by a sinister plot devised by Alberich and his son Hagen. This monumental work, in which the fall of the gods becomes inevitable, unfolds in music of great splendour and profound emotion, notably in Siegfried's celebrated funeral march.

First performed in 1876 at the inaugural Bayreuth Festival, The Twilight of the Gods is presented in a production by Calixto Bieito, completing his interpretation of the Tetralogy for the Paris Opera.
