Ring Set of 4 Programmes - November 2026, Opéra Bastille
Description
The Ring Set of 4 Programmes - November 2026, Opéra Bastille brings together the four parts of The Ring of the Nibelung, Richard Wagner's monumental tetralogy, which he spent nearly thirty years composing. In Calixto Bieito's production, this mythological cycle also explores our relationship with technology and science.
It all begins with the gold of the Rhine, coveted by gods, giants and the Nibelungs. In The Valkyrie, the love between Siegmund and Sieglinde moves Brünnhilde and leads her to defy Wotan. Their son, Siegfried, slays the dragon Fafner, seizes the ring and awakens Brünnhilde. But their story comes to an end in Twilight of the Gods: caught in Hagen's plot, Siegfried brings about the downfall of the gods, while Brünnhilde sacrifices herself on the funeral pyre.
A set of four programmes to follow this epic saga through to its conclusion, carried by the dramatic and orchestral power of Wagner's music.
