Description
Hugo Marchand woke up one morning with a dream. He was nine years old. This virtuoso of the new generation of stars of the Paris Opera clung to this dream of dance. Four years after entering the Nantes Conservatory, he won a gold medal at the age of thirteen and was admitted to the Paris Opera School of Dance. Despite his atypical profile, Hugo Marchand joined the corps de ballet of the Opera at the age of seventeen. He climbed the ranks, competing against others and himself in international competitions and attained the ultimate rank of principal dancer in March 2017.By sharing his apprenticeship, Hugo Marchand looks at dance as a school of acceptance. That of the immensity of the work required to make a dream come true. From the quest for excellence to the shaping of self-confidence in order to achieve it. The tug of war between doubt and determination. From solitude to overexposure, from friendship to competition. The perpetual confrontation with the mirror, the reflection of imperfections to be overcome.
The experience of a metamorphosis.
