Opera Bastille

On July 13, 1989, President François Mitterrand, with Jack Lang, his Minister of Culture, inaugurated the Opéra Bastille, the work of the young architect Carlos Ott. Returning to an international architectural competition and the culmination of a major project, this book traces the genesis and life of an opera house turned towards the 21st century, where the alternation of performances and modularity are issues .

Thirty years later, with its large hall, its scenic spaces, its backstage and its workshops, this place of production and dissemination of lyric art and dance contributes fully to the international scope of the Paris National Opera .
