Supernatural events are taking place at the Opera: the great chandelier collapses during a performance and kills a female spectator, a stagehand is found hanged... Shortly afterwards, the directors of the Opéra are demanded 20,000 francs a month by a certain 'Phantom of the Opera', who also demands that box number 5 be reserved for him.Backstage at the Opéra, Viscount Raoul De Chagny is in love with Christine, a young opera singer.
