Description

The story: Giselle, a young peasant, loves Albrecht. She dances in his honor, ignoring the remonstrances of her mother, who reminds her of the story of the wilis, these sad young girls transformed into ghosts for having danced too much. In love, rejected by Giselle, the gamekeeper Hilarion discovers that Albrecht is none other than the Duke of Silesia, engaged to the daughter of the Duke of Courland. In front of all he reveals the identity of his rival.
Giselle loses her mind and collapses lifeless. Came in turn to meditate at night on the tomb of Giselle, Hilarion and Albrecht are the prey of the wilis and their queen, the implacable Myrtha, who condemns them to dance until death. Leaving his grave, Giselle, a new wili, tries to intervene. Albrecht will only be saved by the first light of dawn bringing in the wilis.
