Description
John Neumeier is inspired by Alexandre Dumas fils' novel to extract the romantic essence and translate the tragic intimacy of his heroine, Marguerite Gautier. He gives his characters a real psychological depth and makes the emotions of the famous courtesan palpable. Between sumptuous ball scenes and sublime pas de deux, the choreographer superimposes memories and dreams by bringing together the destinies of Marguerite and Armand with those of Manon Lescaut and the Chevalier des Grieux. Chopin's music gives the work its interiority while Jürgen Rose slides through his sets and costumes all the perfume of an era.Product information
