Description
Stripped of her traditional attributes - the fairy slipper, the pumpkin, the carriage - and dominated by a tyrannical stepfather instead of a cruel stepmother, Rossini's La Cenerentola plays with the traditional figures of the tale. Cinderella nevertheless lives in a closed world without tenderness, under the yoke of executioners that she protects. In the depths of this goodness smolders a fire that her meeting with the prince will liberate... In this dramma giocoso of 1817, composed in only 24 days for the period of the Carnival of Rome, the young Rossini, who already had 19 operas to his credit - including the Barber of Seville - wrote a jubilant music where he knew how to heighten the tension thanks to his famous crescendos. The director Guillaume Gallienne delicately underlines the half-tones of this brilliant and contrasting score, from dull melancholy to burlesque situations.Product information
